Chris is a passionate and experienced teacher who is very familiar with the New Zealand curriculum. Her specialist teaching subject is Accounting, Chris has both a strong theoretical understanding as a teacher and practical knowledge as a Chartered Accountant to help students reach their goals when pursuing commerce subjects.
Chris has taught and lead students in many schools and she especially values her ability to establish a rapport with students. She aims to assess each students’ level and develop appropriate learning tasks for students to take the initiative and become proactive learners.
Chris has extensive experience with exam marking, she understands the requirements for students to showcase their knowledge in exam settings. She encourages students to study for scholarship exams and with her guidance they excel beyond their expectations. This is a hallmark of a great teacher.
After starting her teaching career at Mt Roskill Grammar School in 1980, Chris has maintained her love of learning and continues to pursue a history degree in her retirement.

Ray has a keen interest for science and mathematics. He enjoys finding different strategies for solving complex problems in a simplified way.
Ray has tutored mathematics and statistics during his undergraduate years at University. During this time, he began to understand general patterns of misunderstanding that people tend to have in mathematics. Ray uses what he has learned to help younger students to overcome challenging scientific and mathematical concepts.
Ray is also passionate tutor for younger students. He aims to teach students how to think analytically and independently. This will help students generate a love for learning maths and science and how to use it in real life.

Ms. Mia Hu graduated with a masters degree in computer science, from Xi’dian University. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and won the second prize in the 2010 University lecturer competition while she was at Xi’dian.
In 2016, she came to the University of Auckland in New Zealand as a visiting scholar and finished her visiting thesis. Mia started teaching Chinese to children in 2017. She has taught in Blockhouse Bay, North Shore and Central Auckland.
Mia likes reading, thinking and constantly iterating herself. She enjoys her self-study of psychology and economics. She always applies her new knowledge in her teaching, so that children can achieve twice the result with half the effort.
Her focus is on cultivating the child’s observational ability during learning. Her greatest joy is when children express themselves in new ways. Mia believes in combining creativity and diligent practice, to foster a life-long skill.

Hao Tang, the chess coach, began to learn Chinese chess from his grandfather when he was 5 years old.
He began to train with the Heilongjiang Provincial team when he was 9 years old. He once ranked fourth among the teenagers in Heilongjiang Province, winning some big tournaments locally.
In recent competitions, Hao Tang won the 2020 New Zealand Major Open Champion and the 2021 New Zealand Open, 4th place in the fast game category, 8th place in the slow game Category and 2nd place in the Manawatu Open. 2022 Canterbury Open championship.
His tireless and patient explanation and guidance to students, will help them to master their chess skills.
